Puerto Calero

Puerto Calero did not exist until it was dreamed up by the developer José Calero as an exclusive retreat to provide a luxury marina, residential development and golf course for the island of Lanzarote.

In 1983 the company Puerto Calero SA was formed and the dream started to become reality. Construction of the Marina began in 1986, which also saw the first wave of luxury villas built as well. The planned 200 berths came into operation in 1989. The developers have not rested on their laurels and a new retail / office complex has just been opened, the Golf course is due to start construction soon and more luxury villas have been built. Puerto Calero is certainly a part of Lanzarote that should not be missed.

Puerto Calero is a recreational port on the island of Lanzarote. Since work began in 1986, Puerto Calero has managed to place itself among the most modern and exclusive ports in all of Spain. An oasis of peace and tranquility in an area that is noted for its great natural beauty owing to its volcanic origins. Puerto Calero is also notable for the careful attention paid to its security and cleanliness. and is endowed with all the essential amenities of any first class modern facility. Internet connections, travel lift with 100 ton maximum capacity, every luxury required including its own complete meteorological service are available. Nautical shops plus charters for sailing or boating complete this premier world class port.

Puerto Calero is on the South-West coast of Lanzarote, and forms part of the municipality of Tias, also is only 10 kilometers from Arrecife Airport and 20km from the island’s capital Arrecife.

Its geographical location is ideal for a marina being sheltered from the island’s prevalent North-Easterly winds. The neighboring island of Fuerteventura and the mountain range forming the coast of Punta Gorda also give protection from the strong waves rolling in from the Atlantic and the less common South-Westerly winds.

Puerto Calero marina, positioned on Lanzarote’s sheltered south coast, has earned a reputation as one of the world’s top sailing destinations. Restaurants quietly line the waterfront and onsite services include a boatyard, shops, car and bike hire and sailing schools.
